Bangalore

After having been taken to Schiphol yesterday morning, a day of boredom, some stress, followed by irritation and boredom and then some stress again followed... Getting to a plane at Schiphol is easy enough but changing planes at Heathrow in 1,5 hours flat is something of a stress factor. Afterwards on the plane o Bangalore (on which every indian seemed to carry at least two pieces of hold-sized hand luggage) a guy felt entiteled to recline his seat, no matter the physical (im)possibility of it sice I was sitting behind him and needed all the space available just to sit upright. Thankfully a flight attendant took pitty on us and gave me a seat next to an empty one: wahey, legroom!

After that; 4 hours of me trying to get some sleep (the previous 4 hours were spent watching "loopers"and "hotel transsylvania") but really, just being bored... We landed at 4:30 in the moring and after the usual border fuss of forms, customs and having my visa checked, I entered the coutry, got my bag, went straight to an atm (where I was immediately noticed by the taxi-crowd) and after that straight to the neares coffee 'a day for a refreshing snapple and a wait till around six.

I read a bit of jules Verne on my phone in the meen time and afterwards walked to the airport taxi stand and got in a waiting cab.
As the last time in Delhi de drive to Bangalore was rather interesting and hair raising at the same time. Cars without headlights, trucks doing whatever the hell they please, my taxi driver doing the same and if you throw pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, roadworks and the odd lost bus into that mix, you get an idea. It was more like being in a platform game that on a road you'd recognize...

On the upside (the ride to the city was actually fun too in a I'm-nearly-but-not-quite-going-to-die sort of way), dawn was breaking with trees and palmtrees visible against the brightening sky and Bangalore was still relatively quiet so I had a nice introduction to it (and the massive amount of buildings going up around it)... As India's third city, it is a rather big place! It took almost half an hour of negociating roundabouts, trafficlights and one way streets (with relatively few traffic) to get from the highway to the hotel which is near MG (Mahatma Gandhi) road and the bustling Brigade road. It is also a rather green city (by Indian standards) on which later more... I finally fell in to an uneasy sleep at 7 am
