The bus to Mysore

What struck me is that as the bus got closer to Mysore, the older houses as far as they haven't collapsed, start to look more and more like they have been transplanted from Portugal (with bright colours, European style decoration and red tiled roofs) and palms are becoming more prevalent. Signs that I'm inching closer towards the coast.
In Mysore, the yuk yuk driver can't find the street (not the last time that would happen) and the hotel proves less than hoped for (still, Tripadvisor recommended it) with no hot water, a squat toilet no toiletpaper (so I have to use my hand and water but worst of all no shower... Well I already paid for it online so I'll have to call it home for the next two nights.
A brief excursion for dinner brings me through dirty and plastic ridden streets where even the cows seem to gorge themselves on the stuff. Masses of Indians go about their shopping and staring (at me that is). Even herme of the old buildings like the central market look more Portugese than English. Dinner was a first; I had to eat it with my hands from a banana leaf. Thank god for Dettol! Also, thank god for DEET, there are quite a few mosquitos around...

Astrid:
Hoi Remco,
Groetjes, Astrid
